Meet Joshua "Josh" Lewis
A working-class candidate ready to work for you.
I was born and raised in Thomaston, right here in the district I’m running to represent. This community shaped who I am — my work ethic, my values, and my belief in looking out for one another. I come from a working-class background, and I’ve spent my entire life in manufacturing. I still work in the field today, and I know firsthand the challenges Georgia families face because I live them too.

I’m running for the Georgia State Senate because I believe our state deserves leaders who understand real life — not just politics. My top priority is simple: bring down the cost of living for everyday Georgians. Too many families are struggling with high housing costs, rising bills, and taxes that make it harder to get ahead. I want to change that.

One of the key ways I plan to reduce costs is by introducing legislation to legalize cannabis and hemp for recreational use for adults over 21. By regulating and taxing these industries responsibly, Georgia can create new jobs, new economic opportunities, and new revenue — without raising taxes on working people.

My goal is to use this new tax revenue to eliminate property taxes, giving homeowners real relief. I’m also proposing a voluntary program for landlords: if they agree to keep rents capped based on local income levels and unit size, their rental properties would receive the same property tax elimination. This approach encourages fair rents, supports responsible landlords, and helps lower housing costs across the state — all without heavy-handed mandates.

At the core of my campaign is a belief that Georgia can be more affordable, more free, and more supportive of the hardworking people who keep our state going. I’m focused on three commitments:

-
Lowering the cost of living for working families.
-
Protecting personal freedom and reducing unnecessary government interference.
-
Strengthening our communities by supporting the industries and workers who fuel our economy.

I’m not a career politician — I’m a working-class Georgian who wants to serve the people I grew up with. I’m running for State Senate because I believe in this community, I believe in our future, and I believe that together we can make life better for families across the Peach State.
