The decision to qualify is not something that I take lightly. I'm from Upson County and as a child I watched as our town was abandoned due to the disastrous policies of an inept government. As a child, I didn't understand why but I knew that times were getting tough. I knew that the mills were gone, and my parents were struggling to pay bills. I was born in 1994. What happened on September 11th, 2001 will always be one of my core memories. I remember sitting in class and watching my teachers scurry around, eventually showing the destruction that was unfolding. At home, I sat and listened as my grandparents spoke about the twin towers being hit. This is the day I learned of the stark hatred some have for our country. Over the next few decades I grew, I became patriotic, and I started a family. The policies of the past now plaguing the country I've brought life into. The complacency in exchange for position began to become more and more apparent. I started working locally in the mills around town and noticed that I wasn't alone in my discontent for our representation. I became aware of the system that keeps our citizens imprisoned through unjust taxes, restricted liberties, and lack of care. I've lived in that system alongside you. As I sit here typing this message my son sits beside me, seven years old. I think back to when I was that age. I think back to the collapse of American greatness. I think back to the complacency. To the corruption. I look at him and hope that May 21st, 2024 serves as one of his core memories. I hope he remembers it as the day his father stood up to the establishment and began his fight to restore our nation.
